IRON MAIDEN, HELLOWEEN, STRATOVARIUS, HAMMERFALL - Ultimi dischi (latest albums)

Durante questo 2022 ho avuto il piacere di ascoltare le ultime uscite di queste 4 band, giganti del metal:

- Iron Maiden con "Senjutsu".

-Helloween con "Helloween".

- Stratovarius con "Survive".

- Hammerfall con "Hammer of Dawn".

Premetto che sono un estimatore di tutti i suddetti gruppi, e il mio rispetto per queste  band va oltre le loro ultime release.

Devo subito dire che "boccio" Iron Maiden e Stratovarius, mentre promuovo Helloween e Hammerfall.

SENJUTSU l'ho ascoltato tantissime volte, sperando sempre decollasse ascolto dopo ascolto. Niente di fare. Salvo giusto 3/4 canzoni, sulla sufficienza, il resto si muove tutto a velocità lumaca, e non mi scuote l'anima come dovrebbe fare. Dickinson svociato, Nicko un pachiderma. Ovviamente sono i Maiden, e qualsiasi cosa facciano, se ne parlera' sempre bene. Ma a me questo disco ha deluso (a parte la copertina che è bellissima). Un pelino meglio di THE BOOK OF SOULS, che veramente ritengo uno dei dischi peggiori mai fatti dai Maiden (a parte EMPIRE OF THE CLOUDS, ma 1 canzone non conta niente!). Oltre ad essere invecchiati sul palco, data l'età, sono invecchiati anche a livello compositivo. Questo ormai da DANCE OF DEATH,  e forse anche prima.

Comunque disco bocciato. Voto 5/10.

HELLOWEEN degli Helloween mi ci e' voluto un po' per apprezzarlo, ma devo dire, che dopo diversi ascolti, lo ritengo il miglior disco dopo THE DARK RIDE. Se avessero eliminato 3 o 4 canzoni sarebbe stato un super disco, comunque grande forma per la band di Amburgo. E devo dire che anche dal vivo, per quello che ho visto online, mi sembrano una delle poche band dei "vecchi" che riesce ancora a tenere il palco con tanta energia nonostante l'età. Quindi complimenti, e spero continuino cosi per i prossimi dischi. Kai Hansen probabilmente ha riportato un po' di sana energia metallica come si deve nella band. Ah ah.

Voto 7.5/10.

Avevo grosse aspettative da questo disco, dato che ETERNAL mi era piaciuto molto. Sono rimasto deluso.

La musica in questo album è un po' come la copertina....un po' grigia e confusa.

Hanno voluto fare un passo verso il moderno e il sofisticato ma mantenendo sempre un sound orecchiabile e in alcuni casi commerciale. Una combinazione che a me ha fatto storcere il naso. Il risultato è non tanto sofisticato, ma un disco piuttosto semplice e lineare, senza mordente. Sappiamo tutti che i tempi di VISIONS non torneranno mai, ma io preferisco quando rimangono fedeli al loro stile (questo per me vale per tutte le band). Preferisco dischi fotocopia, piuttosto che dischi in cui si osa, ma si fallisce.

Obbiettivamente lo avro' ascoltato 10 volte, cercando di farmelo piacere, dato che amo questa band, me purtroppo non ce l'ho fatta.

GRANDE DISCO. Il mio preferito durante questo 2022. Esempio di come si possa sempre fare grande musica, senza dover rinnovarsi per forza. Qui non c'è niente di nuovo, ma ci sono pezzi che ti esaltano. Ed è la cosa piu' importante. Si tratta solo di allineare le note nel modo giusto.

Una boccata di ottimo metallo, in questi miseri tempi, che mi ha scaldato il mio metallico cuore.

Grandi HAMMERFALL.

Concludendo, ripeto, AMO tutte e 4 queste band. Massimo rispetto. Speriamo continuino ancora a fare musica per molti anni!

During this 2022 I had the pleasure of listening to the latest releases of these 4 bands, metal giants:

- Iron Maiden with "Senjutsu".

-Helloween with "Helloween".

I'll admit that I'm a fan of all of the above bands, and my respect for these bands goes beyond their latest releases.

I must immediately say that I "fail" Iron Maiden and Stratovarius, while promoting Helloween and Hammerfall.

SENJUTSU I've listened to it many times, always hoping it would take off listen after listen. Nothing to do. Except for just 3/4 songs, about enough, the rest all move at snail speed, and it doesn't shake my soul like it should. Dickinson has no more a powerful voice, Nicko a pachyderm. Of course it's Maiden, and whatever they do, it's always going to be talked good about. But this record disappointed me (apart from the cover which is beautiful). A bit better than THE BOOK OF SOULS, which I truly think is one of the worst records ever made by Maiden (apart from EMPIRE OF THE CLOUDS, but 1 song doesn't count!). In addition to having aged on stage, given their age, they have also aged compositionally. This now from DANCE OF DEATH, and maybe even earlier.

However disc rejected. Rated 5/10.

HELLOWEEN by Helloween took me a while to appreciate it, but I have to say, after several listens, I consider it the best record since THE DARK RIDE. If they had eliminated 3 or 4 songs it would have been a super record, still great shape for the band from Hamburg. And I have to say that even live, from what I've seen online, they seem to me one of the few "old" bands that still manages to hold the stage with so much energy despite their age. So congratulations, and I hope they continue like this for the next albums. Kai Hansen probably brought some proper healthy metallic energy back into the band. Ha ha.

I had high expectations from this record, since I really liked ETERNAL. I was disappointed.

The music on this album is a bit like the cover....a bit gray and confusion.

They wanted to take a step towards the modern and sophisticated but always keeping a catchy and in some cases commercial sound. A combination that made me turn up my nose. The result is not so sophisticated, but a rather simple and linear record, without bite. We all know the VISIONS times will never come back, but I prefer it when they stay true to their style (this goes for all bands to me). I prefer copycat records over records where you dare but fail.

Objectively I must have listened to it 10 times, trying to like it, since I love this band, unfortunately I didn't make it.

Rated 5/10.

GREAT ALBUM. My favorite during this 2022. Example of how you can always make great music without having to renew yourself. There's nothing new here, but there are pieces that exalt you. And that's the most important thing. It's all about lining up the notes right.

A breath of excellent metal, in these miserable times, which has warmed my metal heart.

Bottom line, I repeat, I LOVE all 4 of these bands. Maximum respect. Let's hope they still continue to make music for many years!
